![]() What about you guys? What would you change about h2o?Įdit: As somebody reminded me in the comments, season 3 lacks a proper antagonist. Is he a bad person? Is he a good person? Is he a bad person who is sometimes good? Is he a good person who is sometimes bad? I just have no idea. He agreed to drill into mako and take the crystals, but then left and told the girls when it became too illicit.īy the end of the show, I still had no idea what opinion I should have of him, and I still don’t. Like, he blackmailed Rikki by suggesting he might not be able to keep their secret if she doesn’t stay in a relationship with him (WTF?), but then apologised and said he would always do so. Sometimes he was nice, then he was an asshole, then he was nice, then he was an asshole. The final season, however, was all over the place. At first, I thought he was an asshole, but in season 2 it became clear that he had a character arc of transforming from a jerk to a decent guy. Lastly, I think there should have been a better conclusion to Zane’s character. However they spun it, I think this would have been emotionally impactful and would have made the ending even more powerful. ![]() I was hoping for emotional scenes where one of the girls would feel overwhelmed by her new life, and maybe there could have been a storyline where she was considering giving up her powers but was convinced not to. If this actually happened in real life, it’s not something you would just get used to there would be times where you would struggle with what you had become and everything you had to deal with. I was also hoping for some kind of conclusion to how they all felt about being mermaids. There should’ve been more mystery and excitement more questions and more answers. I loved what they did with The Gracie Code and wish they continued with this type of storyline. I would loved to have seen them leave their typical setting, going on adventures to discover more about the history of mermaids and why they became what they are. I think this was done perfectly, and of course they should have continued this premise (as it’s basically the premise of the whole show), but it would have been wonderful for them to have added some level of adventure in the final season. Season 1 and 2 saw the trio dealing with everyday problems of being a teenage girl whilst keeping this big secret of being a mermaid. But I also think there are better ways this could’ve been done. ![]() They knew they had to add some dynamic that wasn’t there before, and I think they were right. I think they did this drastic switch-up because they knew they had to compensate for the loss of Emma they couldn’t just continue the show in the normal way, because otherwise they would literally just have substituted her. But this felt a little too outrageous, and I couldn’t really take it seriously. One of the reasons why I love this show is that although it is fantastical, it still feels like the real world, just a better and more magical one. I found this plotline to be contrived and silly. Together, from beginning to end.Īlthough it was wrapped up impressively, I didn’t really like the tentacle plotline. Imagine how powerful the ending would’ve been when the three girls finally discovered why they had become mermaids together all that time ago, and fulfilled their purpose to save the planet together. It was therefore a terrible idea to take one of the girls out of the picture and replace her so abruptly, especially since it wasn’t even necessary (Claire wasn’t filming her movie for long how hard would it have been to wait for her…?) I did like Bella and got used to the change after 9 episodes, but it was never fully the same and some of the subsequent events weren’t as impactful as they would’ve been otherwise. I think this is one of the fundamental characteristics that made this show work so beautifully. I loved to watch them develop as characters and go through lives concealing this big secret, and I couldn’t wait to see how each of their stories would end what people they would become, and how they would deal with their new lives as mermaids. From the very first episode, I had become emotionally invested in these three girls’ journey as a trio. ![]() The first problem is of course Emma’s departure. I still like it, however there are many ways in which I think this show could’ve had a better final season. But like a lot of people, I think that season 3 could’ve been better. To be honest, I don’t think I’d actually change anything about season 1 and 2.
